Align. Breathe. Centre. Strengthen.

“Pilates develops the body uniformly, corrects posture, restores vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit.” - Joseph Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise that aims to strengthen muscles, improve alignment, focus the mind, connect with breathing through precise low impact movement. It is not traditionally a cardio workout, but a wonderfully slow and steady burn.

The principles of Pilates are: Relaxation, Concentration, Co-ordination, Centring, Alignment, Breathing, Stamina and Flowing Movements.

What is Pilates?

EVERYONE!

Push away the idea that Pilates is only for dancers, women, or women in matching workout sets in fancy studios with lots of equipment. Pilates is a method created for anyone - all you need is a mat and you are good to go!

Body Control Pilates instructors are trained using exercises that make Pilates accessible and provide building blocks to lead up to the more traditional ‘classical’ Pilates moves.

Everstrong Movement is an inclusive environment for anyone and everyone to try Pilates and reap its benefits. A mat in a church hall gives you the same workout as a mat in a fancy studio!!

Who is it for?

If you have aches and pains from everyday life, sports or any physical activity then Pilates is a great thing to get into. It perfectly complements all types of activity (or inactivity) as it improves posture, reduces back pain, joint issues, poor alignment, improves core strength and stability.

It might not click in the first or second session, but once it does you will be see that Pilates supports and strengthens physically and mentally.

Why should I try it?

I run a Community Pilates class in the Lewisham/Deptford area - just bring a mat and you are set!

The classes are kept small to ensure I can give proper attention to each person.
